GREENLAND GAFFE: Danish Minister Slams JD Vance's "Tone Deaf" Comments
In a diplomatic dust-up, Denmark's Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen is calling out US Vice President JD Vance for his recent remarks on Greenland. Vance's comments, made during a visit to the Pituffik Space Base, sparked outrage in Copenhagen.
"NOT HOW YOU SPEAK TO ALLIES"
Rasmussen took aim at Vance's tone, saying: "We do not appreciate the tone in which it's being delivered... this is not how you speak to your close allies." The Danish minister emphasized that Denmark values its relationship with the US, but won't stand for condescending comments.
VANCE'S VERBAL VOLLEY
During his visit, Vance suggested that Denmark was underinvesting in Greenland's security and development, and even floated the idea of Greenland seeking independence and partnering with the US instead. The comments were seen as a thinly veiled attempt to undermine Denmark's sovereignty over the island.
A DIPLOMATIC MISSTEP?
Vance's trip to Greenland was already contentious, with Danish and Greenlandic officials questioning the motives behind it. The Vice President's comments have only added fuel to the fire, straining relations between the US and Denmark.
